Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 16: SankalpTaru Foundation, in partnership with NTT DATA—a global leader in digital business and IT services—announces the launch of Phase II of its ‘Community Barren Land Restoration Program’ in Coimbatore, under NTT DATA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The inauguration was graced by the District Collector.

In Phase I, completed during FY 2024–25, 3,500 trees were planted, transforming a 7-acre former dump yard into a thriving green space. Phase II will see the plantation of an additional 3,500 trees in FY 2025–26, further enhancing local biodiversity and contributing to long-term environmental sustainability. The initiative is a testament to the power of community-driven ecological restoration, benefiting both nature and the people of Coimbatore.

Building on the success of Phase I, the collaboration between NTT DATA and SankalpTaru Foundation reaffirms both partners’ commitment to long-term ecological restoration and community well-being.

Gauri Bahulkar, Sr. Director of Global Corporate Social Responsibility, NTT DATA commented, “At NTT DATA, environmental sustainability is not just a strategic focus—it’s a deeply rooted commitment that shapes our actions and partnerships. Through our CSR initiatives, including this meaningful collaboration with SankalpTaru Foundation, we’ve planted over 17,500 trees across India, fostering resilient ecosystems and uplifting communities. In Coimbatore, we’re proud to have transformed a 7-acre former dump yard into a flourishing linear forest that will nurture biodiversity and support the well-being of local communities. Through this partnership, we hope to inspire others to take proactive steps toward environmental conservation, proving that even small actions can lead to powerful, positive change.”

Thiru. Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar, IAS (District Collector, Coimbatore) commented, “I thank NTT Data and SankalpTaru Foundation for implementing this plantation initiative. A place that was once a dump yard has now been transformed into a green forest. This effort will create awareness among the public and encourage schools, colleges, and corporate employees to actively participate in conserving our native trees and protecting the environment.”
