The Untold Story of Medical Practices: Abhinav V Pathare’s Research Article Uncovers Surprising Truth

In his recent research article, Abhinav V Pathare raises concerns about the insufficient scientific basis of medical interventions. He also proposes solutions and urges action to be taken.

New Delhi (India), July 8: Abhinav V Pathare, a renowned public health and community medicine researcher from India, has discussed severe concerns regarding the insufficient scientific foundation behind many medical interventions in a persuasive research article. The article also highlights the urgent need for doctors to enhance their research paper reading skills for evidence-based medicine. Abhinav’s extensive research has shed light on the crucial challenges faced by the medical community and has proposed potential solutions to tackle this alarming issue.

Abhinav’s article, published in the International Journal of Advanced Research in Medicine, reveals a historical lack of scientific evidence supporting many medical interventions. Shockingly, only 15% of medical procedures have solid scientific backing, as indicated by references cited in the research article. This is a significant problem, and one of the contributing factors is doctors’ reliance on textbooks and personal contacts rather than journal articles, which are crucial for evidence-based medicine. Studies have shown that textbooks may not always include the latest research, while personal contacts often provide opinion-based information that lacks a solid scientific foundation.

Doctors’ inadequate research paper reading skills can have significant consequences, such as posing risks to patient safety and public health. A review published in BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine shows that only 18% of doctors’ decisions and recommendations are supported by “patient-oriented good-quality evidence,” as noted by Abhinav.

To address these challenges, Abhinav suggests potential solutions. Firstly, providing proper training and education to improve doctors’ research paper reading skills is urgent. Secondly, research paper authors should present their findings in a clear and accessible manner using plain language summaries, infographics, visual abstracts, and video abstracts. This approach will make it easier for doctors to understand the information presented.

Abhinav’s article serves as a wake-up call to the medical community, urging collaborative efforts among doctors, allied medical professionals, educators, researchers, syllabus-makers, and policymakers. It emphasises embracing evidence-based medicine and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient safety and public health outcomes.

Abhinav, a dedicated public health researcher, envisions a future where well-informed programs, interventions, policies, and strategies positively impact public health. His article highlights the urgency of improving doctors’ research paper reading skills and calls for a collective approach to achieve this shared goal.
